Dongag Wosel Dargayling Monastery

Khenpo Thubten Dorji is the founder of Dongag Woesel Dargayling Monastery. He was born in Khomshar, Zhemgang in 15 Agust 1970. He studied for five years in English medium school, after which he decided to become a monk. In late 80’s, he joined a Buddhist monastery in the Eastern Bhutan. For five years, he studied Buddhist grammar and philosophy (Rigney and Zhung).

He left for India to pursue his higher Buddhist studies in the year 1993, and joined Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, Mysore. During his nine years study, he had undergone vigorous Buddhist learning in Buddhist philosophy and research under numerous Khenpos and Khenchens.

                                                   He had participated in all other co-curricular activities of the Institute and particularly, he practiced three different kinds of retreats: the ‘Preliminary practice’, ‘Psychic Heat Generation’ and the ‘Great Perfection practices’. Thus, he laid the firm foundation for all the higher practices of the Nyingma School of Tibetan. Buddhism.

During the tenure of his study he had also received secret oral transmission from numerous renowned spiritual masters of various religious sects. However, his Holiness Drupwang Padma Norbu Rimpoche and Dondrupchen rinpoche was his root teacher and spiritual master for most of the secret oral transmission and spiritual guidance.  Khenpo Thubten Dorji rinoche have 2 lineage is Namcho lineage from Penor rinpoche, Lonchen Nyintik lineage from Dondrupcen  rinpoche. He had successfully completed his religious learning and practice in the year 2004. 

On 17th February, 2011; Lopen Thubten was officially recognized as a Khenpo from Namdroling Monastery, and he received his doctorate in Buddhist Philosophy from His Holiness Kuchen Rinpoche – the 12th throne holder of Palyul tradition.
